About Us

The Mission of StudyUnitedStates.org is to facilitate the successful formation, execution, and promotion of state international education consortia.
In recognition of the trend toward regional study consortia, the high interest in their formation, and the the inherent challenges associated with them, StudyUnitedStates.org was organized to create a robust platform for enabling such consortia to organize, operate, promote, and improve.  Through sharing of best practices and development resources among states, the StudyUnitedStates.org hopes to enable all states and schools to successfully promote their own unique identity.  Our platform and resources allow states and their schools to have a unified state presence that can be promoted to international students, thereby increasing the state’s name recognition as well as awareness of its schools and their unique strengths.
Inherently, there are challenges with forming and effectively operating a consortium.  Often such efforts fall into a no man’s land and much of the energy associated with their operations relies almost invariably on volunteer time.  A study of best practices across state consortia in the US and regional consortia around the world demonstrates that when these challenges are overcome great benefits can be achieved.   We seek to overcome those challenges through sharing of best practices and allowing participating states/schools to focus on identifying their strengths and differentiated value rather than being forced to focus their limited resources on development of their own web platform.
For the sake of the 4000+ schools across the country, and for the sake of efficiency, we focus on providing a world class platform that is customizable by each state so that all states can differentiate themselves based on their unique character and value proposition, not just the size of their promotion resources.  The IEC has established an outreach to each state to foster collaboration and provide access to best practices, tools, and economies of scale. By enabling all states to deliver a baseline of effectiveness on the web, utilizing the latest social networking and web technologies, we improve the overall US representation to prospective students and increase student recruitment across the country.
Successful regional study consortia are able to:

  • to increase the name recognition of their respective states and educational institutions
  • to promote their states as study destinations for international students
  • to facilitate partnerships between educational institutions in their states and those in other countries
  • to capitalize on the services and support of state and federal government agencies

There are also clear benefits to prospective students.  First, it allows prospective students to match lifestyle and educational preferences to a smaller region.  For example, student preferences as varied as major industry interest or outdoor recreational hobbies are more easily associated to a state region.  In addition, state by state review offers a logical process for exploring the 4000+ educational offerings that at the country level are daunting.  In the end, the prospective students get greater exposure to the breadth of education options across the country and states have the opportunity to highlight their unique value proposition.
